Saint Peter’s Players was formed in 1962 by a group of friends, many of whom are still active
Members of the group. We have now been presenting plays for an unbroken 44 years at
Saint Peters Church hall in Newlyn.

There have been many difficult times, and we have sadly lost some wonderful members and
friends along the way, but those 44 years have brought enormous pleasure to us, to our
invaluable patrons and the thousands of audience members who have shared the thrills and
laughter with us.

Our productions have ranged from out and out, side splittingly funny farces to seroius period
dramas. We have produced plays set in locations as diverse as Cornwall and Africa, based
on fact and fiction and set in the present and in the past ... even in Victorian times.

We are fortunate enough to enjoy the support of a large number of patrons who pay a small
annual fee towards our administration costs. Without these loyal supporters Saint Peter’s
Players could not have survived.

We also receive much needed help and assistance from numerous local people and businesses.
This takes many forms, from ticket sales and poster display to the loan of props and help with
making special items.

And with the enthusiasm, imagination and sheer hard work of our members, the genorosity of
our patrons and the support of the Newlyn community we hope to continue producing plays
for a long time to come.

Saint Peter’s Players are always on the lookout for talent, old and new; so if you would like to
become a member please contact us. We are a very friendly bunch, and we would love to hear
from you. Perhaps you are new to the area, or you have always had an interest in theatre but
never quite got around to doing anything about it..... Well, now is as good a time as any, so
send us an E-mail or give us a ring. The details are on the home page.

As well as acting, there are lot’s of other equally important roles. Lighting and sound, set design
and building, production and direction, refreshments, costume and stage props..... The list is
almost endless.
